“Innovator of the Year” shortlist at Women in Law Awards 2020

Making significant strides since its launch in March 2019, Lacuna Legal Providers is delighted to be recognized as a finalist at the upcoming Lawyer's Weekly Women in Law Awards.

Co-founders Allison Warburton and Bronwyn Eynon-Lewis are particularly proud given that a key driver in establishing Lacuna Legal Providers was to help others in the legal industry, particularly women who often have to balance significant family and home responsibilities with a demanding professional role.

Even before the significant impact of COVID-19 on families and across the legal industry this year, research showed that women were continuing to bear the bulk of family and household responsibilities, and female lawyers were leaving law firms in significant numbers from their mid-40s.

“Lacuna Legal Providers came about after many years working in big law in Australia and overseas, both as lawyers and in support functions,” said Bronwyn, “We were finding it challenging to successfully manage our careers with the commitments in other parts of our lives. It was taking a toll on our health and happiness – and we knew we were not alone.”

This led to the idea that became Lacuna.

Lacuna is not a law firm. It provides individual lawyers and law firms with the support services that are usually found in mid-tier to large law firms.

Whether they are setting up their own firm or needing to more efficiently manage the running of their practice, Lacuna supports lawyers so they can dedicate their work time to what they do best  – focusing on their clients and building their business.

Lacuna looks after the administration, business development, marketing and other management tasks for a fixed and transparent monthly fee with no lock-in period.

“By providing experienced and professional support services and coaching, Lacuna is helping a growing community of senior lawyers to have successful careers as part of happy and balanced lives,” said Allison. "We have walked in their shoes and we want to make their working lives easier."

Lacuna Legal was also nominated as a finalist for Innovator of the Year (Company) and Bronwyn was a finalist for Marketing Support Professional of the Year at the Australian Law Awards 2020.
